Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 17, 2026
Lo-Fi Network LLC (“Lo-Fi,” “we,” “us”) operates Lo-Fi Local,
Lo-Fi kiosks, and related web pages and services (the “Service”).
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected
and how it is used.
Information We Collect
-
Shop-submitted information:
Businesses that participate in the Lo-Fi network may provide information such as
business names, addresses, website or social links, images, descriptions,
promotional content, and contact information.
This information is used to display listings, updates, and related content
within the Lo-Fi network.
-
Interaction data:
When visitors scan Lo-Fi QR codes or interact with Lo-Fi pages,
the Service may record limited interaction events such as scans,
page visits, button taps, crawl participation, timestamps,
and kiosk or shop identifiers.
-
Session and browser participant identifiers:
Lo-Fi may generate random identifiers within a visitor’s browser
and store them locally on that device.
These identifiers help maintain participation features such as
crawl progress, distinguish repeat participation, and measure
aggregate activity across the network without requiring a user
account, name, or email address.
These are Lo-Fi-generated browser identifiers and are not hardware
device identifiers.
They are not used to build advertising profiles or perform
cross-site behavioral tracking.
-
Technical information:
Limited technical information may be processed as necessary
to deliver, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the Service.
Lo-Fi does not retain visitor IP addresses or browser user-agent
information in its interaction analytics.
How We Use Information
- To display shop listings, updates, and promotions.
- To operate kiosk, QR, grid, passport, and local discovery experiences.
-
To maintain crawl progress and support features such as events,
crawls, scavenger hunts, rewards, and community activity experiences.
-
To measure aggregate network activity such as scans,
participation, shop activity, and redemptions.
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- To prevent fraud, spam, abuse, or manipulation of the platform.
- To communicate with participating businesses.
Lo-Fi is designed to operate using scans, limited interaction data,
and pseudonymous participation identifiers rather than personal user profiles.
Sharing
Lo-Fi does not sell personal information or use personal data
to build third-party advertising profiles.
Limited information may be processed or shared with trusted service providers
that help operate the Service and related infrastructure.
These providers may include:
-
Cloudflare (hosting, security, edge computing, storage,
databases, and content delivery)
-
Google services such as Google Sheets used for business
content management and operational workflows
-
Fully Kiosk Browser software used on certain in-store kiosk devices
These providers operate under their own privacy policies and terms.
Aggregated or de-identified interaction statistics
(such as scan counts, participation totals, redemptions,
or general network activity metrics)
may be used to measure and communicate activity across the Lo-Fi network.
Information may also be disclosed if required by law.
Data Retention
Information is retained only as reasonably necessary to:
- Operate the Service
- Maintain participation and crawl functionality
- Maintain system integrity
- Measure aggregate network activity
- Support participating businesses and network operations
- Prevent abuse or fraud
Lo-Fi does not retain visitor IP addresses or browser user-agent
information in its interaction event records.
Browser-based participation information stored locally on a visitor’s
device may remain there until the visitor clears browser storage
or otherwise removes that data.
Businesses may request removal or correction of their listing information
by contacting us.
Privacy by Design
Lo-Fi is designed to measure participation rather than build personal profiles.
Visitors are not required to create an account to scan participating locations,
explore the network, or participate in supported crawl experiences.
Lo-Fi collects and retains only the information needed to operate these
experiences and measure activity across the network.
Children
The Service is intended for general audiences and participating businesses.
Lo-Fi does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
